A Co Clare man is one of over 1,000 people looking to get a job in the Antarctic next winter.
Four posts are up for grabs on a remote island - including running the shop, post office, museum and carrying out maintenance.
Anthony Galvin is not put off by the fact that there is no running water and only limited communications.

The post could see him stationed on Goudier Island off the Arctic Peninsula from next November to March.
A team of four people will be based at Port Lockroy for the UK Antarctic Heritage Trust.

Mr Galvin told The Irish Daily Mail: "I have always been obsessed with polar exploration, even as a child."
"I love the snow, the cold, the Northern Lights and the wilderness. I have been out in temperatures as low as -45C, and I love it," he added.

But it is not quite as lonely as it sounds.
During the summer the port sees about 18,000 visitors, while the local penguins offer more permanent company.
The salary amounts to around €30,000 annually, with food and accommodation supplied.
