Anyone who hasn't paid the Household charge by the end of this month will be hit with a €200 bill from July 1.

The charge is €145 before then and anyone who has yet to pay it is being reminded to do so, before the duty of collecting the fee is handed over the the Revenue Commissioners.

It's estimated around 280,000 households have not paid - with payment levels at 80%.

Jackie Maguire is the Chair of the Household Charge Project Board - Newstalk's Breakfast presenter Norah Casey asked her how many householders have yet to pay:

Ms. Maguire warns that if you don't pay what you owe - that is €145 to be paid for 2012 by the end of June 2013 - that become a €200 bill for property tax, payable to the Revenue Commissioners.

1.273 million people have paid the charge to date - local government system authorities say they are very thankful for those contributions.

The Household Charge Project Board is warning that you won't easily be able to sell your property in the future if you don't pay your household charge or property tax bills now.
