Students at a Wexford school are being evacuated after a roof blew off a nearby swimming pool and landed next to the building.

A 'substantial' portion of the recently refurbished pool in New Ross has blown down. Gardai and two units of the Fire Brigade are at the scene.

Meanwhile gardai say many trees are down in Kilkenny and traffic diversions are in place around the city.

The ring-road is completely shut on the Dublin side.
