Mayo suffered yet another heartbreaking All Ireland final defeat on Sunday and manager James Horan admitted momentum was an issue for his side.
But he also thought that referee Joe McQuillan blew earlier than he had indicated, meaning that Cillian O'Connor's late free proved ultimately futile.
"We didn't think it! The ref told us [there was more time coming]. That's an interesting one. He told three of the players and Cillian asked him twice but that's neither here nor there now."
Meanwhile, Dublin committed 32 fouls to Mayo's 12, a statistic which piqued Horan's interest when it was put to him by Newstalk's Oisin Langan.
"32 frees to 12? That's an interesting one isn't it? We struggled to get momentum and struggled to get our support runners going and some of the shooting options we took were possibly the wrong ones."
