It was bitter disappointment for Mayo yet again on the final hurdle before Sam.

Corner forward Andy Moran, who scored a second half goal, admitted that "it was a game of errors" with Mayo losing out in that regard.

But speaking to Newstalk's Oisin Langan, Moran echoed the comments of his manager James Horan in relation to the amount of time they had left at the death.

Moran and his team-mates say that the referee told them they had more time left before Cillian O'Connor decided to put a late free over the bar. The final whistle was blown after Stephen Cluxton's kickout.

"The message that came in to us was that we had 30 seconds left," said Moran.

"Cillian is a very intelligent guy, a very intelligent footballer and very cool on the pitch. He was very disappointed when Joe [McQuillan] decided to blow it up. I wouldn't blame it but I wouldn't be too happy about it to be honest."
