The Deputy State Pathologist is carrying out a preliminary post mortem on the bodies of twin brothers (9) found dead in Co Cork.

A garda forensic team is also conducting a technical examination at the house where Thomas and Patrick O'Driscoll were stabbed in Charleville.

The body of their brother Jonathan (22) was discovered following the incident in nearby Buttevant.

Prayers have been said at masses in Charleville this morning for the O'Driscoll brothers who died yesterday.

The bodies of twins Thomas and Patrick were discovered in separate bedrooms at their home in Deerpark on the outskirts of the town at around 5pm.

They had suffered stab wounds.

Around an hour later, the body of their brother Jonathan was found in woodland in Buttevant around 15 kilometres away.

Officers examine the house

The case is being treated as a murder-suicide. People in Charleville say they are shocked by the tragedy.

The bodies of the twin boys remained at the scene overnight, which is now being examined by the Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis and a garda forensic team.

Its understood that gardaí have recovered two knives in a river closer to where the body of their older brother was found.

Local priest Fr Tom Naughton told Red FM News it is a difficult time for the family and the community.
