Ireland manager Noel King has confirmed that there is a strong possibility that he could still be in charge of the team for the two friendly internationals that are pencilled-in for November.

That will be the case unless a new manager has been appointed by then.

While other teams take part in the playoffs, Ireland will have the opportunity to schedule up to two friendlies in November.

King has picked a victory against Kazakhstan and a 3 - 0 defeat to Germany in Cologne during his two games in charge.

However, he has received some criticism for playing strikers such as Anthony Stokes and Kevin Doyle on the wing, although ex-Ireland winger Stephen Hunt told Off The Ball that the latter offers varied movement.

But allegedly, there has been some discontent in the camp. Shane Long appeared to be unhappy about being an unused option in both games:

That message was retweeted by James McClean who was also not used in either game, despite being a regular in the latter days of Giovanni Trapattoni's reign.
