The FAI have anounced that Ireland will host Turkey in a friendly at the Aviva this May 25th.

The Boys in Green have played Turkey on 12 occasions, losing just once. However that defeat proved to be a crucial Euro 2000 playoff loss.

But Turkey have structural problems and failed to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. It is the third straight major tournament that they have failed to qualify for.

Martin O'Neill's side face Serbia next month in a friendly and are due to play England in November, although a date for the latter remains unconfirmed.
