The interim Garda Commissioner says the Anglo Irish Bank investigation was both complex and complicated. Noirin O'Sullivan says she is determined to tackle the area of white-collar crime.
The Commissioner was speaking at the annual conference Garda Representative Association (GRA) in Co. Kerry.
She says the level of resources being used will be reviewed.
Since the beginning of the month, gardai have seized over €11 million in heroin, cocaine, cannabis and ecstasy.
Commissioner O'Sullivan also says the force will continue to have dedicated resources committed to tackling drugs and organised crime.
Earlier, the GRA said up to 1,000 officers are being assaulted every year. The rank and file garda body is calling for new legislation with tougher penalties to deter people from attacking gardaí.
They also want the Department of Justice and garda management to publish details on the number and severity of incidents annually.
The GRA Deputy General Secretary John Healy says a new reporting system, introduced in October, shows cases on the rise.
